Mallorca – Sun, Hills and Rain

Mallorca – Sun, Hills and Rain

Day two of our short trip to Mallorca started with a gentle 54km ride through Palma and Inca until we could see the mountains getting ever closer! (Video to be posted later once processed).

The aim was to start at Coll de sa Batalla and climb all the way to Puig Major. Then climb gave a great sense of achievement and started to confirm the bike trainings going to plan for Austria as we wound our way past 10’s if not a couple of hundred other cyclists.

As quick stop at the only petrol station I’ve ever found to sell electrolytes for water. Then off up, only way was up, to:

The ride back down was an awesome series of flowing turn and switch backs, dropping nearly 900m in just 10 short km’s.

By this point 90km done only another 75km of our planned route to go.

100km in decided a stop was required. A cake and tea stop. Andy enjoying some great water.

The rest of the ride was along the coast and threw some more hills at us but it was the unexpected mountain rain that did for us. The ride was cut short but still 151km and 3.5km of climbing.
